plus 7 for effective teaching

[Don't be mislead about the title. This blog has nothing to do about effective teaching.]

Meron nalang halos 2 linggo, pasukan na. Kahit ilang taon kana sa pagtuturo, iba pa rin talaga ang pakiramdam ng First Day of Class. Andami mong naiisip...

1. LAPIS (Mechanical Pencil)
[The only constant in this world is CHANGE.]

2. PLANNER
[Bright ideas comes at a very unexpected moments. -Prof. A.V.O.]

3. CHALK HOLDER
Una kong nagamit to nung nag-intern (student-teacher) ako. Nakita ko to sa Math Teacher namen nung 2nd-year high school palang ako.
[Always leave a mark...]

4. POINTER
Hindi ko na maalala kung kelan ito iniregalo saken pero nagamit ko to nung first year of teaching ko. May laser pointer, may antenna at may ballpen... 3-in-1 na pointer, mas may class kaysa meter stick. Meron nito sa 168 Mall sa Divi.
[When you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack. -W. Churchill ]

5. COMPUTER
Second year of teaching ko lang ng makabili ako ng sariling computer sa bahay. Napakaraming gamit nito sa teacher - lesson planning, computation of grades, research work, preparation of teaching materials... etc.
[Necessity is the mother of....... computer]
6. PORTABLE AMPLIFIER (with lapel)
Pwedeng mabili to sa Quiapo.
[Better heard, than presumed to be heard... ]

7. DIGICAM
Totoong wala namang yumayaman sa pagtuturo, pero napakayaman naten sa mga good memories at experiences, it is important to capture that particular moments. There are things that cannot be fully described by words however eloquent you are... but picture does.
[Picture paints a thousand words...]

As what I've mentioned above, you can teach even without these accessories. You can also be equally effective even without these materials. But as time goes and as you mature in the teaching arena you gain some 'add-ons' that you consider important to your teaching profession. Being effective is always dependent to you as a teacher, these are just (as I call it) 'add-ons' that may enhance in one way or another your way of teaching.

Goodluck and God Bless to all of us for S.Y. 2011-2012!
