Si Ma'am at Sir, ONLINE!

In previous years I have observed that most of the oldies were hesitant to the extent of completely disregarding to accept technology. Sometimes we would hear their remarks, 'kayo na lang mag-aral nyan, matanda na kami.' But that is not the case today. You would have probably observed some old people with their eyeglasses and holding cellular phone, texting. Computer shops are not already dominated by youngster, but also some old people surfing the net, chatting, and even updating their status in some social networking sites. You would have probably encountered some techie oldies with ipad, ipod, iphone, or laptop somewhere.

Whether we like it or like, as others say, SOCIAL MEDIA has a great role in today's classroom. From the traditional way, our learning environment has already shifted to another level.

Here's an interesting statistics from schools.com about what I'm saying...

15 Decades After...

Last Sunday, June 12, was the commemoration of the 113th Philippine Independence Day. A very important part of our history to remember.

Today, June 19, we look back, we reflect and we commemorate the 150th Birthday of our National Hero, Dr. José Rizal.

DepEd commemorates Dr. Jose Rizal's 150th Birthday with a National Fun Run Activity called as 'Takbo ni PEPE'  in different provinces. The rains did not dampen the mood of Filipinos across the country who wanted to take part in the celebration. In spite of the threat of the flooded streets due to continuous rains since yesterday and the threat of terror, an estimated of 250,000 participants which are mostly students trooped to Rizal Park in Manila, making 'Rizal @ 150' the biggest celebration in the entire archipelago as reported by abs-cbnnews.com
At last... nakarating din sa starting position!

Assembly time 5:00 AM
Rain, Rain, Go Away... Come Again Another Day!
PEPE is an acronym for People Empowerment Program for Education. With the theme, "Every Runner, a Finisher, Every Finisher, a Winner" students and teachers from different Divisions of NCR joined Fun Run at Rizal Park.
First 6 of 20 students (in my gang)
From our school, we have less than 1,400 senior-student-participants grouped by 20's. A total of 67 groups were formed, each group is monitored by one teacher-in-charge.

Fun (?) Run (Walk)
Rizal @ 150...
Are we there yet?...
I joined the whole country in commemorating this important milestone of our history. Fifteen decades ago, a hero was born. He dedicated his life for the 'bright future' of this country. Today, we have the strength and the potential of our youth which Rizal envisioned as "Pag-aga ng Bayan". Fifteen years after, Asan na nga ba tayo ngayon?

New Philippine Peso Bills: Currency of Hope and Change

I like the new design of our Peso Bills even though some errors have been the subject of ridicule of some critics in social networking sites and tri-media in its first emergence. Critics will always be critics. I've summarized some of these "errors" because of my curiosity...

1. Exclusion of Batanes from the Philippine map on the reverse of all denominations
2. The mislocation of the Puerto Pricesa Subterranean Underground River on the reverse of 500-peso bill
3. The mislocation of Tubbataha Reef on the 1000-peso bill
4. The incorrect coloring in the beak & feathers of the blue-naped parrot on the reverse of 500-peso bill
5. The scientific names of the featured animals on the reverse sides of all denominations were incorrectly written

Scientific names are written in binomial nomenclature where the first letter of the first word (which is the genus) should be capitalized and the second word (which is the species name) should be written all in lower-case letters. Scientific names are conventionally written in italicized form. In the case of how the scientific names were written on the reverse of all denominations, both the first letters of the genus and species name were capitalized and not written in italicized form.

Wrong Scientific Name:
Genus Species

Correct Scientific Name:
Genus species

Honestly, with these errors I've learned the locations of some of some of our tourist spots, the real color of a parrot and the correct way of writing scientific names. I’m not saying that we ignore these errors. Well, for me, there's nothing too much to worry about with these errors. Maybe these can be rectified in the near future. (I presumed that it would cost a lot of money to change it right now.) What is important is that we are aware of these errors.   We have to learn our lessons to avoid it next time. After all, the main objectives of the BSP when they announced their plan to change the design of our peso-bills (that was in 2009) is the enhanced security features and improved durability of the bills.

A fearless guess siguro would be less than 40% palang ng population ng Pilipinas ang gumagamit ng CP noon…

Fairy Tale

Nakatanggap ako ng text message na ganito…

AUDITORS or PHIL. CHARITY FOUNDATION nforming u that ur sim no. had won php650,000 in an elctronic raffle, drawn last 04/24/2005. NCR DTI #0438 PLS CALL ME NOW Im ATTY. - - - - - - -

Summer break noon.

Within 15 minutes nakapagcome-up kami ng isang mahabang listahan kung pano madidespatsa ung 650K. Nasa baba ang listahan na naggawa namen…

Reality

Kahit wala akong pera nakapagload ako that time para makatawag sa kanila… May sumagot sa kabilang linya; “Heto na siya….!” (may nagpapalakpakan akong narinig after).

Life Lessons

*wala lang :)
